Hi there...my name is Bodhi and my"job" is to take my Mom and Dad on adventures, and share them with all of you. Each month I am going to highlight different places that love having us pups spend time with them. Mostly restaurants, but other places as well. Please remember if you have places that YOU like to visit, contact us and let us know so we can visit them and share what we find with others.
October's choice....Cambria Pines, Cambria CA
Here are some great choices for things to do in Cambria, CA ...and a few things on the way!
This is traveling time for us so I wanted to share some of
our findings on the road.
Mom and Dad took me on a nice trip to the Central Coast of
California to the nice little town of Cambria.
Coming from Southern California we stopped in Pismo to stretch our
legs. There is a great little park http://www.pismobeach.org/index.aspx?NID=288
with a nice walking path and lots of cool statues of dinos and whales to play
on.
Another place to stop if you need a bite to eat is in Duke’s
in Ventura. 1124 South Seaward Ave. It’s a cool surfer type of a burger place
with some seating out front for you and your pet. Very casual and really good food. Not lots of room but it’s kinda cool.
Morro Bay has some nice places too. We stopped at Dorn’s (801 Market Ave.) and
their patio is nice and big and there was plenty of room for me to get
comfy. Mom loves this place and she
always gets the fish and eggs. Looked
yummy to me too but I was happy with my bully stick, laying in the sunshine
laying on the patio next to my Mom and Dad.
Just about to Cambria is a tiny town called Harmony. Not much there, a potter, a glass blower, and
a winery. The winery is a great place
for wine tasting and they let me come in and stay close to my mom. They were
really nice and they played with me and gave me lots of love.
Cambria is a very dog friendly town. Lots of restaurants and if they have any
outside seating at all they welcome your pets.
Here are a few places we found:
Linn’s - great
pastries, tea and coffee…and behind Linn’s is a little place called Easy as
Pie, yummy deserts and sammiches.
Corner Bakery-good pastries, tea and coffee. Mom says their lemon brioche is WONDERFUL!!
Redwood Café – the owner Rick really liked me a lot. He gave me fresh water and treats and talked
to me. They are open for breakfast and
lunch and they have about 10 tables out front.
Lots of room
Wild Ginger-Asian food-Oh so good!! Deborah the owner was extra nice to me. She cooks too!! I was cozy laying under the table. Not a lot of room for a BIG boy like me but I
was good so it was o.k. Try the specials…they
are always yummy!
Cambria Pines-really nice place. A good place to have a special dinner. They have these really neat booths that are
tucked away in little coves on their patio.
Each one of these little spots has a fireplace and a heater in case it’s
cold, but I liked the way the cool cement felt on my belly J Dad had prime rib and mom had the vegan stir
fry. They both were really happy with
their food.
Las Cambritas-located on Main Street, they have a BIG back
patio with lots of room for BIG dogs.
Dad had what was called “PicNic” (Chili Rellano, Taco and Enchilada),
Mom had the vegetarian tacos (one made with avocado and the other with
mushrooms). They both liked the food
very much. It was a little cool on the
patio but they do have heaters.
Robin’s-Robins has a wonderful big patio that is very dog
friendly. Mom was really looking forward
to eating here but when we got there a wedding party had booked the whole patio
so we will have to try again next trip.
They were real nice, and they wanted us to stay there just wasn’t any
room that night. The food is great, and
the patio is BIG so good for us BIG dogs.
Indigo Moon and Black Cat Bistro-we didn’t have time to eat
at these places but they came highly recommended.
WHERE TO STAY:
There are a lot of great places to stay in Cambria. A lot of dog friendly hotels. It really depends on where you want to stay
but….we stayed at the Creekside Inn. BIG
room on the second floor with a big king size bed and lots of room for my
crate! We had a balcony so I got to lay
out there, on the patio, looking out at the creek. I saw a lot of squirrels, deer and a blue
heron. It was beautiful and the people
at the hotel were so nice. They said
good morning to me every day! Dad took
me to the J & J Heller dog park, which was just a few steps away from our
room. It was cool there….so many tennis
balls to chase, and so little time. I
got really tired but it was so much fun.
Sometimes there were other dogs there but most of the time I had the
whole place to myself. Just me, my dad
and my mom. It was soooo much fun. And we were waling distance from town where
all of the restaurants were.
THINGS TO DO:
In town there is a doggie spa, Paws and Tails, where you can
get a bath or you can go to daycare while your mom and dad have some time for
themselves. Sometimes they need to be
alone. We didn’t use them this time but
next time Mom says I can go there and play!!!
One of the neatest pet stores too. It was called Maddie Mae’s Pet Pantry. They have lots of treats, and toys and they
have two big sheep dogs that hang out in the store. It is really nice!!! I shopped and shopped and I found a bone I
had to have. I guess I should have asked
mom first if it was o.k. but I really wanted it!!!
So much to do in the area.
Lots of beaches to run on. And
some fun places to ride. The beach in San Simeon is really nice and the waves
were real BIG! We went up to Big Sur and Dad let me play in the river by Big
Sur River Inn. I had so much fun!!!
